The College of Western Idaho delivers college credit instruction, certificates and degrees through its memorandum of understanding with the College of Southern Idaho (CSI).  CSI is accredited through The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities is a regional postsecondary accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Credits, certificates and degrees earned at CWI appear on CSI transcripts and are transferable to four year institutions, subject to the specific policies of those institutions.

The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) approved CWI's Application for Consideration for Candidacy.

Candidacy is not accreditation nor does it ensure eventual accreditation. Candidate for Accreditation is a status of affiliation with the Commission which indicates that the institution has achieved initial recognition and is progressing toward accreditation. Until separate accreditation is granted, CWI will continue to deliver college credit instruction, certificates and degrees through its contract with the College of Southern Idaho (CSI).

The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking accreditation status from Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). As part of this initial self-study phase and in preparation for a formal candidacy visit, comments from the public are considered with regard to CWI's qualification for candidacy. NWCCU will conduct a formal candidacy visit on October 5-7, 2011. CWI invites the general public to send comments directly to the Commission at NWCCCU at the address below.

Comments must be received by September 2, 2011. Please note comments will be accepted only when they are submitted in writing and signed. Signed comments are forwarded, as received, to CWI, the evaluation committee, and the Commission at NWCCU. To obtain a copy of the Commission Policy A-5, Public Notification and Third Party Comments Regarding Full-Scale Evaluations please visit the Commission's website.
